Steve Lefar
Executive Chair

Steve is a three-time CEO with nearly 30 years of experience in healthcare with expertise in strategy, analytics and software. In June of 2018, Steve joined Strata Decision Technology as Executive Director of StrataDataScience (SDS) and StrataSphere®, Strata’s collaborative cross client data initiative. StrataSphere leverages the nearly $600B per year of healthcare costs from 200+ health systems that work with Strata. He is a member of Strata’s senior leadership team and drives analytics strategy. He is also a board member of several venture-backed companies. These include Third Eye Health, Evive and Wildflower Health. Previously, Steve was CEO of Applied Pathways (acquired August 2017 by AIM Healthcare which is part of Anthem). Prior to Applied, he was CEO of healthcare market intelligence, consulting and analytics firm Sg2 (acquired by MedAssets in 2015) and President of MediRegs (acquired by WoltersKluwer in 2007). He was also head of Corporate Development at Allscripts and worked in consulting with both Accenture and APM early in his career. Steve earned a BA in economics from the University of Michigan in 1988.

Dan Herbstman
Co-Founder, Chief Strategy and Product Officer

 As Chief Strategy and Product Officer, Dan keeps the organization at the forefront of the telehealth industry as it continues to expand in new markets.  Prior to co-founding Third Eye health, he served as Senior Director, Diagnostics and Software, at Haemonetics, the leading medical technology company in blood management, bringing early-stage products from concept to commercialization and to standard of care in the in-vitro diagnostics, software and medical device areas.

Dan has also mentored early-stage companies, including Healthbox, as part of Chicago Innovation Mentors (CIM) and the Chicago Lean StartupChallenge. He was an early investor for b.good, a New England-based restaurant chain. Dan started his career in health care consulting with Abt Associates and Perot Systems before moving into the medical technology area with EPIX Medical.

He has an undergraduate degree from Washington University (St. Louis, MO) in Biology.

Lucas Baran
Co-Founder, Chief Technology Officer

As Chief Technology Officer, Lucas drives product innovation and development initiatives for Third Eye Health. The original developer of the organization’s highly sought-after proprietary tablet-based telehealth technology, Lucas leads a team of highly skilled developers in the platform’s evolution through design and execution, ensuring a sustainable product market fit. He also upholds the responsibility of maintaining the secure transfer of PHI with SOC2 certification and custom EHR-integrations.

Prior to co-founding Third Eye Health, Lucas developed trading floor applications for Fidelity Investments and led a team of developers for Dynamic Clinical Systems, specializing in self-reported surveys using touch-enabled software that was acquired by Press Ganey.

Lucas received his bachelor’s degree in Computer Science and a master’s degree in Information Security from Brandeis University.

Ray George
Chief Growth Officer

Ray has worked in healthcare technology for over 20 years with a successful track-record in aligning product, marketing, strategy and sales teams, both with start-up companies and new product teams inside of large companies. Specializing in newly defined markets, taking solutions from early product-market-fit to scale.

Prior to joining Third Eye Health, Ray was the Director of Strategy and Business Development for Nuance Technologies where he was responsible for building the PowerShare Network, the largest network for Diagnostic Image Exchange and Artificial Intelligence in the United States with over 5,000 facilities in the network, including the majority of the top academic and tertiary health systems in the United States.

Ray has a bachelor’s degree in Political Science from Miami University in Oxford, Ohio.

Laurie Dotas

Senior Vice President of Operations

Laurie serves as Third Eye Health’s Senior Vice President of Operations, overseeing all training, implementation, and support initiatives as well as credentialing, third party billing, physician practice operations, and payer enrollment. Her journey with Third Eye Health began on the client engagement side, where she managed training and account management as the Director of Customer Operations.

Before joining Third Eye Health, Laurie dedicated over 25 years building her career in long-term care, the majority of which she served as a licensed nursing home administrator, working for organizations including Signature Healthcare, Kindred Healthcare and Prestige Healthcare.  She also was the Regional Vice President for MedOptions Behavioral Health, working directly with long-term care partners.

Paivi Smith
Vice President, Finance

As Vice President of Finance, Paivi is responsible for the daily finance activities and treasury of Third Eye Health.  Since joining Third Eye Health, her focus has been on improving the financial systems and processes, identifying additional income generation opportunities, positively impacting the organization’s financial forecasting and outcomes.

Paivi has held financial leadership roles for 20 years, most recently she was the Vice President of Accounting / Finance at Stratus Video, a mobile technology interpretation service for hospitals, where she helped navigate the organization through two acquisitions.

Paivi received her master’s degree in Accounting and Finance from the University of Jyväskylä in Finland and is a Certified Public Accountant.

Zahra Shariff MD
Senior Medical Director

Dr. Shariff leads the nationwide team of over 80 Third Eye Health physicians delivering acute virtual care to patients in skilled nursing and long-term care environments.  Her medical expertise includes extensive experience as ED Attending Physician at Michael E DeBakey VA Hospital in Houston, Texas and Hunter Holmes McGuire VA in Richmond, Virginia.  She has a deep interest in international health, having traveled to Tajikistan to establish a clinic and train local providers on Diabetes Mellitus Type II (DMII) and hypertension treatment protocols.

Dr. Shariff received her medical degree at University College Cork in Ireland followed by a residency in internal medicine at St. Louis University Hospital, serving as Chief Resident her final year. Originally from Canada, Dr. Shariff received her undergraduate degree from McGill University.

 

Suzanne Carney, RN, CDONA/LTC

Vice President Of Clinical Services

As Vice President of Clinical Services, Suzanne establishes and builds relationships between clinical leadership and Third Eye Health.  Our clinical nursing expert, Suzanne’s best practice guidelines are imperative to driving quality initiatives and outcomes. Her journey at Third Eye Health began as Director of Care Coordination where she developed the care coordination platform as it exists today, later transitioning to Director of Clinical Operations where she managed the Care Coordination team, an essential arm of Third Eye Health.

 Before joining Third Eye Health she served as Director of Nursing Services and Center Nurse Executive for over 10 years establishing deficiency-free surveys and 5-star CMS status as her standard of practice. With over 35 years of health care service, starting her career as an LPN then RN, she is now working toward a master’s degree in Nursing.

 

Miraj Chokshi

Director of Strategic Initiatives

Miraj leads building new ventures and introducing innovative practices that support Third Eye Health’s vision of enabling virtual post-acute care. With over a decade of strategy, product, design, and technology development experience in digital health and healthcare technology enterprises, he believes that aligning good client relationships, focused strategy, adaptable processes, and great culture lead to products that create value.

Prior to Third Eye Health, Miraj co-founded and led product & technology development at Varsa Health, a venture funded healthcare company focused on data analytics in behavioral health. Previously, Miraj led product design at Wellable, an employee wellness program and was a product & research coordinator at Northwestern where he published a chapter on behavioral health intervention technologies, known today as digital therapeutics.

Miraj received his master’s degree in Biomedical Sciences from Tufts University.

Megan Lenthe, RN, BSN, CSM, MBA
Director of Product

Megan spearheads the development of our skilled nursing and assisted living facilities strategy, refining our product along the way. She jumpstarted her career in nursing, serving as a Director of Nursing for a 200-bed post-acute care facility. Her crossover into product and project management occurred with the Ohio Department of Veterans Services working on the informatics team building the EHR for the largest Veterans facility in the US. She conducted similar work for CalVet, overseeing the implementation of software moving from paper to software-driven documentation. Most recently she spent the past six years at MatrixCare as a Senior Healthcare IT Clinical Product Manager and VP of Pharmacy, Provider and Laboratory Solutions.

Jen Bradley
Senior Marketing Director

As Senior Marketing Director, Jen focuses on unifying Third Eye Health’s brand, building awareness, utilization and growing new business for the organization through strategic marketing initiatives. With over a decade of healthcare marketing expertise, Jen specializes in B2C and B2B brand development, traditional and digital marketing, demand generation, and thought leadership tactics.

Prior to joining Third Eye Health, Jen led comprehensive MarComm efforts for AdventHealth and HCA Healthcare aligning with specific volume-driving goals.   Outside the healthcare arena, Jen has over a decade of marketing experience, including marketing powerhouses InterContinetal Hotels Group and CDW, driving new sales opportunities, optimizing digital product placement and executing national advertising campaigns.

Jen graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Business Marketing from Miami University in Oxford, Ohio

Tyler Silva

Director of Financial Planning & Analysis

As Director of Financial Planning and Analysis, Tyler is responsible f or all financial forecasting, budgeting and reporting at Third Eye Health.  Tyler has broad expertise in budgeting & forecasting, financial statements, corporate development, financial modeling, and financial planning in portfolios across various areas of oversight, including numerous high-value clients, identifying risk and trends. He has a knack for mobilizing high-performing teams by championing a culture of accuracy, profitability, and business continuity.  Tyler is also an angel investor in the Pacific Northwest and a Western Washington University alumni.
